This male Barred Owl is slightly smaller than his mate. He is shown here on his hunting perch shortly before sunset. Barred Owls have a varied diet that includes rodents, amphibians, reptiles, and even fish, so good places to look for these owls are in mature forested areas along creeks such as Breckenridge Park and Spring Creek Natural Area.
