This image follows Lake Michigan as it curves around from Ogden Dunes, Indiana past Chicago to Wind Point, Wisconsin and west across the Fox River. The Chicago river and its bridges are visible here along with the downtown skyscrapers and their shadows including the Sears Tower. Of course, Chicago is also home of the Cubs and historic Wrigley Field can be seen just west of Lake Michigan. Other notable Chicago landmarks that are visible in this image include Montrose Harbor, Lincoln Park Conservatory, Lincoln Park Zoo, Oak Street Beach, Navy Pier, Petrillo Bandshell, Buckingham Fountain, Field Museum of Natural History, Shedd Aquarium, Adler Planetarium, and Soldier Field. The 1.2 mile diameter circle formed by the Tevatron at Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory stands out near the western edge of this image. The main injector and other components of Fermilab are also visible. This lab performs experiments to answer fundamental questions about the nature of our universe.
