North Texas is surrounded by lakes, including Eagle Mountain, Lewisville,
Ray Roberts, Texoma, Lavon, and Ray Hubbard. Although this region may be
better known as the home of the Dallas Cowboys and high-tech companies such as
Texas Instruments, Nortel, and EDS, North Texas is also home to some of the
best sailing and sailors in the country.
Rush Creek Yacht Club on Lake Ray Hubbard
is the home club of Paul Foerster, silver medalist at the 1992 and 2000
Olympics, and now Gold medalist in the 2004 Olympics. Each spring RCYC hosts the
Black Tie Regatta.
With good winds, lots of sun, world-class competitors, not to mention a
great party, this regatta is a must for scow sailors. Rush Creek also hosts
a number of regional and national championships during the year. If you are
interested in sailing, come out to the club on the weekend and meet
friendly sailors who are always happy to introduce people to the joys of
our sport. RCYC also has a strong junior program for kids.
