This image shows farming areas of the Texas high plains between Amarillo and Lubbock. The farms
in this region irrigate crops to supplement infrequent rainfall by pumping water from the Ogalalla
aquifer and distributing it via self-powered center-pivot sprayers. When viewed from afar, this
image appears to be an abstract jumble of colored circles and wedges, but when viewed more closely,
the image shows its true nature as crops and fields in various stages of irrigation. The city at
the middle of the right side of this image is Hale Center, Texas and a portion of Olton, Texas is
seen along the left edge.
The area covered by this image is approximately 11x21 miles. A full-resolution crop of the
image file is available
